Guinea Fowl

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

I thought that I would update you on the lonely Guinea fowl. We are still waiting for some more Guinea Fowl and we have one or two irons in the fire.

However Donald is no longer quite so lonely he has made friends with the chickens and they have eventually accepted him. He sits and waits outside the hen house until they are let out and then he follows Micky the cockerell all over the farm. Its quite amusing to watch and nice that he has found some friends.

Hot and Sunny

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

What a fantastic week – lots of lovely sunshine! It feels like summer – lets hope its a sign of the season to come.  We are still very busy here at Broadgate Farm – the new entrance road is under construction. There is still a lot to do but I can already see how great it is going to look. The slinky for the geo thermal heating also went in this week – this is the pipework that runs underground, takes the heat from the ground and runs into the heat exchanger. There was quite a lot of it! 220 meters and it is now running across our paddock. It’s good that we have had dry weather whilst all this groundwork has been completed.

Lots of work!

We are busy this month creating a new entrance road to the cottages, the short road will cross a small paddock and we are also landscaping the area around it.

My next task is to source a nice new sign that will go on the wall that we plan to build at the entrance to the new road – any suggestions on where I can get a customised metal sign will be welcome.

One lonely Guinea Fowl

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

We would like to put out a plea for some more Guinea Fowl – unfortunately our local fox made a meal of 4 of our recent arrivals and we now have one lonely Guinea Fowl left.

I have just been watching him from my office window wandering around the Stables cottage. He needs some friends so if you can help contact us at broadgatefarm@btinternet.com.
