Ten new arrivals!!!!

Friday, August 27th, 2010

At last!  Truffle kept us waiting but last night she had 10 piglets! Truffle is a Gloucester Olde Spot and Dad is a Berkshire Black so we have 3 white with black spots 7 black. The black piglets have white socks!

They all fed well and Truffle is certainly going to have her trotters full with that lot!

Au Revoir!

Monday, August 16th, 2010

We have just said goodbye to our first real French visitors. They were a delight and we loved having them here at Broadgate Farm Cottages. The recipe & instructions for Yorkshire puddings is on its way!

Piglet watch!

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

Forget spring watch or autum watch we are on our own “watch ” at the moment. Truffle is due on the 21st August – she only had 4 piglets last time(she was a first time mum) and we are wondering how many we will get this time. I will let you know as soon as the happy event occurs!

Good Luck to the GB Team!!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Broadgate Farm are hosting the GB Eventing team whilst they compete in the FEI European Pony Championships at Bishop Burton in East Yorkshire.

We wish the team well!

Sheep

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

We are just organising for some rare breed sheep to come and make their home at Broadgate Farm. They will live by the entrance to the cottages most of the time and will be a lovely sight not just for us and our guests but lots of locals who already regularly stop off to see Skylark in the front paddock

Sunset

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

We are having the most wonderful sunsets at the moment – I have been rushing out to capture them on camera and find it is quite busy out there on an evening with all our guests snapping away as well!!

5 Star!!!!

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

We have just been awarded 5 stars for the Granary by Visit Britain – we are delighted and hope that our future guests will enjoy staying in this lovely cottage.
All our other cottages achieved 4 star gold which is right at the top of the 4 star band.
You may be wondering why the Granary got 5 star and the other cottages 4 star gold – one of the key factors in judging a self catering unit is the space available. None of our cottages are small but the Granary has a really large and spacious living area.

Our new large cottages

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

The Barn House and the Granary are fully up and running, the Barn House sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms and the Granary 6 in 3 bedrooms.

They are lovely cottages and photos are now on the website. We still have some availability in the summer – but not much so if you are thinking of joining us at Broadgate Farm don’t delay!

Wedding Bells!!

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

We have had a lot of people staying attending weddings in the area but this weekend marked a first. The bride stayed here at Broadgate Farm and left for the wedding in a small fleet of wedding cars.
It was a lovely sight and we wish the happy couple well.

The Barn House

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

The Barn House is coming along really well, the bathrooms and the kitchen were being put in today, we now also have a staircase!  The bathroom tiling looks fantastic and it is great to see it all coming together.

Tomorrow I brief the curtain maker, we have some lovely silk from Laura Ashley to create some stunning window dressings. My house is fast filling up with furniture for the cottages, the front sitting room has completely disappeared and there is so much more still to arrive! We have persuaded Laura Ashley to deliver the bedroom furniture at the end of March instead of the end of February so hopefully it will go straight into the cottages.
